

Kien Azinwi is a J.D. candidate at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she recently completed her term as President of the Lincoln Alexander Law Students’ Society (2024–2025). During her tenure, she led transformative, student-centered initiatives that strengthened equity, representation, and community within the law school.
Kien is deeply committed to racial justice, policy advocacy, and inclusive leadership. Before law school, she served as National Chairperson of the Canadian Federation of Students, Canada’s largest student union, where she led federal-level campaigns on housing, pandemic relief, and anti-racism. She also served as the National Executive Representative of its Black Caucus. Additionally, she represented over 50,000 students as President of the York Federation of Students, York University’s student union, playing a key role in social justice campaigns including the development of an Anti-Black Racism Framework at the university.
She currently works as the first law student intern at the Black Class Action Secretariat (BCAS), supporting efforts to advance systemic change through legal advocacy and public policy. Kien brings an intergenerational and transnational legal lens to her work, drawing from experiences shaped by both Canadian and Cameroonian legal traditions. Her advocacy is grounded in a commitment to centering Black voices in law, policy, and Canada’s evolving AI regulation landscape.
