

Suwayda Sheikh-Mohamed is a J.D. candidate at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she is serving as President of the Black Law Students’ Association (BLSA Lincoln) for the 2025–2026 academic year. In this role, she is leading a bold and community-driven vision to empower Black law students, expanding mentorship initiatives, and creating accessible spaces for community engagement and advocacy.
Her legal interests lie at the intersection of racial justice, employment & labour law, and policy reform. As a student volunteer to the Anti-Black Racism Pro Bono Project, Suwayda supported legal research efforts aimed at addressing racial discrimination in institutional systems. Her work reflects a deep investment in dismantling structural inequities through community-informed legal practice.
Outside the classroom, Suwayda is actively involved in her community and remains committed to uplifting the next generation of Black students. She regularly mentors high school and undergraduate students, and continues to support grassroots efforts aimed at improving access to legal education and representation.
She is currently working as a summer student with Purolator’s in-house legal team, gaining experience in corporate, employment, and regulatory matters. Suwayda is looking forward to building on these experiences and remains committed to using her legal education to support equity-focused work both within the profession and in the communities she serves.
